Thoughts on Martin Luther King Day

Greetings XANGO Nation,

A few quick thoughts on this Martin Luther King Day 2016…

A 1997 Apple computer ad entitled Here’s to the crazy ones hangs on my office wall here at XANGO. For those unfamiliar with it, it goes like this:

Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The trouble-makers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules, and they have no respect for the status-quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify, or vilify them. But the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.

It’s been said that “people would rather endure familiar hells, than pursue unfamiliar heavens.” Change requires sacrifice and discomfort. Unfamiliar landscapes bring risk and uncertainty.

Historic leaders like Martin Luther King were catalysts for change, and they pushed the human race forward because of it.

At XBA we discuss how XANGO must be constantly changing and adapting to remain relevant and fresh. In fact, progress is impossible without change.

Ironically, at the same time, we must always ensure that our company’s core values and purpose never change. Successful businesses find the balance.

I am excited about our direction for 2016. We are determined to create bold, new opportunities for our Customers and Distributors. As always, this will require us to be catalysts for change and to explore unfamiliar landscapes. As Dr. King once said, “Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.”

Here’s to a great year!

Gordon
